Audio journaling

Record your reflections in your own voice.

Write, record, or combine both

Answer a question with a recording, written text, or both. Audio recording and playback are available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Record an answer

Open a reflection question and use the microphone control in the answer composer. Allow microphone access when prompted. Stop recording and save your answer. You can add another recording or continue a selected recording from its recording options.

Listen again

Open a saved answer to replay its recordings. You can return to your spoken reflections alongside your written journal history.

Offline recording and transcription

Recording and playback work offline. Transcription runs on your device when compatible speech support and the selected language are available, with speech-recognition permission. If transcription is unavailable, you can still record and listen. Review generated transcripts for mistakes.

If recording does not start

Check microphone permission for Existential Thinker in system Settings. On Mac, also check which microphone is selected. If playback is silent, check the volume and audio output. Do not assume nearby sharing or a JSON export backs up original audio files; keep valued recordings separately when needed.
